Sculpture:Classical reliefs and sculptures were collected and copied.THe nude human figure became the most important element in art:classical proportions were based upon it and even religious images of christ and the saints were idealized within the norms of the human form.Importan sculptors are:In the uqatrocento:donatello:David and Condotiero Gattamelata.in the cinquecento:michelangelo:david, moses, pieta.Painting:artists strove to despict figures in a believable space-an illusion they created by using linear perspective, a renaissance innovation. The human figure is well-proportioned without any hierarchical sizes.Important painters:In the quatrocento:Boticelli:the birth of venus. In the cinquecento:da vinci:la gioconda.michelangello:the sistine chapel ceiling. In spain starts the siglo de oro with artists such as garcilaso de la vega, paiters such as el greco(the burial of count orgaz), insculpture, berruguete(san sebastian), in architecture, juan de herera(monastery of el escorial). The religious conflicts:the rediscovery of the learning of the ancient world, the printing press, and all the other forces that came together to create the renaissance also affected the church. In 1500 there was only one faith in western europe, namely catholicism. At the head of the catholic church was the pope residing in rome. The church played a central role in the lives of the vast majority of ordinary people.IN the 1520,a catholic monk, martin luther, made criticsm of some of the catholic church's actions and beliefs.this parked off huge changes, which led to many parts of christian europe rejecting the catholic church and setting up their own protestant churches. If we look at the churc before the reformation, we might get some clues as to why this happened:
•No one could argue that the church was not corrupt.
•some historians argue that abuses happened in the church.
•The church became increasingly confident with the indulgences.
Main issues of the lutheranism?
•Christians are saved by faith
•The priestthood of al believers.

•christ sacrifice happened only once
•Translating the bible
•No heavenly intermediaries.
